Poker rules

Each player is dealt two cards and betting starts when the player to the left of the dealer begins. The player can either call the bet (match it), raise it higher than the previous bets and remain in the pot until a showdown or fold their cards face down and not participate in the hand.

After the flop, an additional card is added to the table, known as the turn. This means there are a total of three community cards now to be used in a poker hand. The betting continues the same as before but now a player must either match the last raise or fold.

A flush is a poker hand that contains five cards of the same rank, including the Ace. A straight is a poker hand that contains consecutive cards of the same rank, for example three jacks or three sixes. A three of a kind is a poker hand that contains two cards of the same rank and one card that is different, for example two 3s or two 7s.

A high card is a poker hand that breaks ties in a hand where no one has a pair or better. A high card is any card that is above the other players’ highest card.
